KOR HOTEL GROUP REPOSITIOINS SHERATON GATEWAY LAX AS THE NEW 802-ROOM 'BOUTIQUE' ON THE BLOCK
$14 Million Renovation Creates Stylish Airport Hotel
Los Angeles, Calif. -- Los Angeles-based Kor Hotel Group has dramatically redefined the term "boutique hotel" with its recent reinvention of the Sheraton Gateway Hotel Los Angeles Airport.
Following a $14 million renovation, the 802-room hotel boasts a distinctive blend of style, comfort and convenience for its guests and brings parent Kor's signature boutique hotel experience to the LAX corridor.
"We have always considered the Sheraton the most conveniently located hotel in the airport area," said General Manager Michael Miner. "Now with our redesigned interiors, it is one of L.A.'s most fashionable hotels as well."
Guestrooms and suites are richly appointed with black wash ebony furnishings, occasional tables with red faux ostrich finishes, Lucite lamps and textured leather headboards. The refined urban look continues throughout the lobby and public spaces with modern furnishings and a rich palette of charcoal, black, navy and crimson.
The hotel's outdoor heated pool area has gained a fresh resort-destination identity with its elegant black and white cabanas, patio dining area and surrounding palms and flora. After guests dine al fresco poolside, they can work out in the new 1,240 square foot fitness center that features a "cardio theatre" complete with personal flat screen televisions.
The hotel's 45,000 sq. ft. of meeting space has been fittingly recreated with new interiors and equipment this winter. Wireless Internet service will be available in the public areas.
Kor will also premiere a full-service Starbucks café in Spring 2005 and celebrated Shula's 347 America's Steak House restaurant early Summer 2005 at the Sheraton Gateway. The steak house will be the first west coast destination for Shula's and its design will be custom tailored to Gateway's interiors.
The Kor Hotel Group purchased Sheraton Gateway LAX in 2002.
The Kor Group is a privately held real estate development and management firm with investments primarily in hotels and multi-family real estate. Kor Hotel Group, the hospitality division of Kor, holds a diverse property portfolio and manages both its own assets and non-owned hotels under third-party management contracts. Kor Hotel Group's properties include Avalon Hotel and Maison 140 in Beverly Hills, Viceroy Santa Monica and Viceroy Palm Springs, Gateway Hotel Los Angeles Airport, Delfina in Santa Monica, Breakwater and Tides in South Beach, and Chamberlain, due to open in West Hollywood early 2005.
