IN CELEBRATION OF ‘WORLD OCEAN DAY,’ THE TIDES BRAND
DONATES PORTION OF MARINE-INSPIRED PACKAGES TO OCEANA
- Percentage of proceeds goes to ocean conservation group through ongoing partnership; packages pay tribute to ocean habitats

“World Ocean Day” on June 8, 2008 with vacation packages that will generate donations to Oceana, the ocean conservation group, for the entire month of June. Through The Tides’ ongoing partnership with
Oceana, the largest international organization working solely to protect the oceans and a major proponent of “World Ocean Day,” a percentage of each package booked will go to advance the organization’s efforts to protect essential ocean habitats and marine life and to reduce over-fishing. Packages are available at each of Kor’s three Tides properties –
The Tides South Beach, The Tides Riviera Maya and The Tides Zihuatanejo - and feature local, ecologically friendly seafood selections along with other ocean-based amenities and activities.
The following three-night “World Ocean Day” packages are available throughout the month of June 2008:
The Tides South Beach: Chef Pietro Rota of La Marea restaurant will prepare an exquisite three-course seafood dinner featuring several sustainable selections, such as Maine Lobster. A refreshing welcome cocktail features VeeV liqueur made from acaí berries, which are rich in antioxidants and thought to be one of the world’s healthiest fruits. An Oceanfront Studio completes this sea-inspired retreat.
Total price is $1,135 single occupancy or $1,256 double occupancy, including tax and gratuities.
The Tides Riviera Maya: In addition to accommodations in a Luxury Villa, guests will savor a tasting menu of ceviche (seafood salads “cooked” with lime and chilies) that includes locally caught products and will enjoy a day of water sport. A private diving tour for two, lead by an instructor, will take guests on a quintessential Riviera Maya adventure to a cenote (a fresh water fissure in the jungle) for a swimming experience like no other. Or guests may choose a day of sea kayaking for a more vigorous workout on the pristine waters of the Mexican Caribbean.
Total price is $2,125, excluding tax and service charges.
The Tides Zihuatanejo: A gourmet ceviche tasting menu prepared by Executive Chef Paco Dorantes including local seafood is only the beginning of this luxuriant package. Guests will also recline in a Lagoon Suite and experience The Tides’ signature Lava Shell Therapy, a holistic treatment using self-heating Tiger Clam shells. Following an application of an aromatic essential oil designed for The Tides by Osea (known for marine-derived wellness products), therapists administer a Swedish-style, full-body massage with the shells that radiates healing heat deep into tissues.
Total price is $2,080, excluding tax and service charges.
World Ocean Day was founded to celebrate the beauty of the oceans, to acknowledge the world’s dependence on them and to undertake actions to preserve their precious ecosystem. The holiday is not officially recognized by the United Nations, but over 700 zoos, museums, organizations and agencies take it upon themselves to celebrate the day, working for its official recognition and increased fundraising for ocean conservation.
